About The Good Friday

As the Holy Week approaches, Christians will witness Good Friday and all that it entails. Notwithstanding the name, this religious holiday characteristics its base to holiness rather than goodness. It is believed that this is the day when Jesus died for the sins of the world and all Christian communities honor his sacrifice through different ceremonies and fasting.

It is held after the Christian holy day of Maundy Thursday, which observes the Last Supper of Jesus Christ, and on a Friday before Easter Sunday. In all religions, the death of their Prophet is the most important part, so it goes with the religion of Christianity, the death of Jesus is one of the most important segments described in the Holy Bible.

Christians have a firm belief that in death, Jesus took away all the sins of humankind, his execution rescued them. The day put an example of the highest level of sacrifice and unconditional love. In the mourning of this day, Christians observe a fast, visit churches, and apologize for the sacrifices because of which Jesus was crucified.

But Good Friday was not always celebrated on a Friday. It is in their belief that the Last Supper, the crucifixion, and the resurrection were part of a single ceremony on the night before Easter Sunday. But later on, the Christian community started to celebrate the Holy Thursday, Good Friday, and Easter Sunday separately, on three different days.
